A Bit About Me...

Hi, I’m Suzanne, an independent editor who works with fiction and creative non-fiction writers on story development, prose refinement, and revision strategies.

As a big-picture editor, I'm passionate about helping writers dig into the heart of their story—figuring out what it's really about—and using that to shape a stronger, more focused narrative. At the same time, I know how much the details matter, and I enjoy the challenge of working at the sentence level to refine a novel's prose while preserving the writer's unique voice and style.

As a former educator, I know that real growth doesn't come from only fixing mistakes--it comes from steady practice and thoughtful support. Becoming a better writer means understanding what works, what doesn't, and why. For that reason, my edits include well-rounded guidance in the form of clear feedback, detailed explanations, and helpful resources all aimed at helping writers build their skills and confidence in the craft of storytelling.

Besides editing, I also write short stories and am currently at work on a suspense novel. I hold an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, a Certificate in Editing and Publishing from UCLA, and am a member of ACES: The Society for Editing and The Editorial Freelancers Association.

In my down time, you can usually find me feeding my backyard squirrels, reading the latest Scandinavian thriller, or sipping coffee at a downtown cafe.
